Arrington and I met on a double bill with his amazing band Malaikit dan Singha and Edmund Welles about 3 years ago. We stayed in touch and played a number of shows whenever his band was coming through SF from Olympia.
One of these trips resulted in a short duo set, with just him and me at the Vortex Room thanks to Neil Martinson. We had a blast that night, and went into the studio the next day to record this record.
It was a weird session for me as it was the first session I did fully improvising. I felt self conscious and shelved this session for a while. I took it out when considering doing this series, and was really struck by how different it was from other stuff I had done, thanks in no small part the the extraordinary presence of Arrington. He really creates a mood with his playing and it was easy and fun to find ways to compliment that.

In the past few years I have written music for different projects that could be defined as pop songs, chamber classical, psychedelic jazz, klezmer folk and even heavy metal.
